Ergon Refining Turnaround Complete

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Ergon has announced the completion of the scheduled turnaround at its naphthenic refinery in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The last unit was back online on Monday, April 20. Even though the turnaround was extended due to COVID-19 precautions, there were no interruptions in supply to Ergon’s customers.

Ergon Purchases Western States Asphalt Group

JACKSON, Miss. – Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc., (EA&E) has announced finalization of an agreement to purchase the asphalt business of Western States Group, LLC, and Western States Asphalt of Montana, LLC. EA&E has long been known as a valued resource in the development of the asphalt industry in the United States. The company’s footprint has grown over the past 38 years from a single plant in Mississippi to 54 asphalt and emulsions facilities stretching from coast to coast across the United States and Mexico.

“The Intermountain Northwest has been on our radar screen for many years,” said Baxter Burns, EA&E President. “In our business, people and relationships are the greatest asset a company can have. And Western States is no different. They are dedicated, hard-working, and loyal — a perfect fit for melding into our Ergon A&E group.”

With six plants situated in Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, they have been a constant in the Intermountain Northwest for many years. They enjoy a strong company culture and place great importance on employees, quality products and safety. Ergon plans to retain the current employees, including the existing management team.

Ergon Terminaling Receives ILTA Safety Excellence Award

Jackson, Miss. – Ergon Terminaling, Inc., (ETI) has been awarded the International Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) Safety Excellence Award for its exemplary record of zero recordable incidents in 2018. The award was presented at ILTA’s 39th Annual Operating Conference and Trade Show in Houston, Texas.

This accomplishment is evidence of the effectiveness of ETI’s Target Zero campaign. Launched in 2016, the goal for this campaign is to increase hazard awareness and promote individual safety ownership in order to achieve zero recordable incidents and zero lost time events.

“Even though we perform a broad scope of functions within Ergon Terminaling, all team members, managers and operators alike have come to recognize that our most important function is to look out for each other by working safely,” said Craig Rohr, ETI North Regional Manager and Manager of the company’s terminal in Magnolia, Ohio. “Through good and thorough task analysis, and by keeping everyone keen and alert through constant safety awareness, we strive to make sure that everyone goes home to their families in the same or better condition than they came to work. For us, safety is much more than just something we talk about or read about on a poster. Safety is the key element of our mission.”

To date, ETI has gone 3.5 years with zero recordable incidents and looks forward to many more years of hitting Target Zero.
