JACKSON, Miss. – Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc., (EA&E) has announced finalization of an agreement to purchase the asphalt business of Western States Group, LLC, and Western States Asphalt of Montana, LLC. EA&E has long been known as a valued resource in the development of the asphalt industry in the United States. The company’s footprint has grown over the past 38 years from a single plant in Mississippi to 54 asphalt and emulsions facilities stretching from coast to coast across the United States and Mexico.

And Western States is no different. They are dedicated, hard-working, and loyal — a perfect fit for melding into our Ergon A&E group.”
Headquartered in Spokane, Washington, Western States was formed out of the SemMaterials bankruptcy in 2009. With six plants situated in Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, they have been a constant in the Intermountain Northwest for many years. Western States provides a full spectrum of paving solutions, including neat asphalt, polymer modified asphalt and emulsions. They enjoy a strong company culture and place great importance on employees, quality products and safety. Ergon plans to retain the current employees, including the existing management team.
