Résumé Tips
- Write directly and clearly; edit out unnecessary words
- Use action verbs to show the experience, accomplishments and skills you have gained
- Tailor your résumé to the job you’re applying for; use language similar to the job description as much as you can without “making up” experiences
- Use headers and bullet points to make your résumé easy to scan
- Including your GPA is not necessary
- Consider including skills you have gained through educational, volunteer or other unpaid experiences
- Proofread, spellcheck, proofread again, then have someone else proofread for you
- Word, Google and other documents can be saved as PDF files which preserve document formatting across view screens and in printing
